Program Name and Duration

The programme name is Diploma in Fashion Design and Textile Technology. The duration is two academic years which are broken down into four semesters. The duration of a semester is seventeen (17) weeks, fifteen weeks for teaching and two weeks for examinations

The general objective of this programme is to produce the best fashion designers and textile artists to meet the current market demand in the fahion industry

Program rationale

Fashion is a big business and key driver for several industries e.g. apparel, accessories, textiles, automobiles etc. and following the growing demand for competent designers, there has been a need for a curriculum that enforces practical skills for gainful employment

Program learning out comes

  • Create surface design.
  • Perform fashion illustration and technical drawings(analogue and digital).
  • Perform surface ornamentation techniques (fabric dyeing, painting, screen/heat press printing, embellishment etc.).
  • Perform pattern cutting and stitching.
  • Make basic blocks and patterns.
  • Design projects (garments, crafts, textile art etc.).
  • Perform garment finishing.
