fields related to textile, design and clothing. The course units combine both the creative and
technical skills necessary to excel in the fashion industry through theory and practical
applications. The units of this course will give an overview of fashion design and elaborate on
different aspects like, fabrics, understanding the human anatomy, pattern development, fashion
business, crafts and garment construction.
Program rationale
Fashion is a big business and key driver for several industries e.g. apparel, accessories, textiles,
automobiles etc. and following the growing demand for competent designers, there has been a
need for a curriculum that enforces practical skills for gainful employment.
